What’s Left

What’s left in “your pocket”, “bottom line” is what really matters.

Investments and growth comes by investing the “leftover”, savings.

If you use all your earnings on current expenditure, “stomach issues” I call them; clothes, cars, and such like, your investment for growth is greatly compromised.

You could earn a million shillings and spend all in luxury, showoffs etc, but another could earn 100k and use only 50k, investing the balance for growth.

Believe you me, the latter, 10 years down the line ,will be better than the former.

This is applicable at an individual, family, corporate and at a National level.

To achieve this, careful and deliberate planning is required, discipline and sacrifice are key components in this journey.

With the macro changes happening, the Finance bill , Inflation rate and cost of living going up, we may need to think of 2 things-:

1) How do we increase our incomes

2) How do we reduce the expenses

Or is there a combination of both as a third force?

Yesterday, a real story, my manager went to complain of an over 50% increase of power in one of our organizations, it came from 500k to 750k, another one from 65k to 90k. My home one is no better!

This is the answer we were given, “go back and look for how to reduce your power consumption, it’s the billing that’s higher ,not, consumption.”

Well, probably we need to start thinking of alternatives, but how quickly can we get this as a people , as a nation!

Well, back to the drawing board we go, bottom line we must grow in the midst of all these crisis.

How? Let’s scratch our heads harder, grow revenue, reduce cost or both.

And,

this is the language everybody should be speaking, it’s hard enough, many of us know it, don’t make it worse , especially for the SMEs business community, who are the greatest employers.

Over to you my people.
